House Prices Increase

The prices of houses across the UK have risen in June for certain areas. The statistics show house prices are still down year on year.

This can mean for hundreds of thousands of people in the UK they have negative equity within their property. One way to improve the value in a house is install sliding mirror wardrobes, fitted bedroom, a new bathroom or kitchen or another general home improvement.

The statistics show that home improvement loans have increased 18% in the last year. This is essentially because people are more willing to improve their house during the recession and whilst their mortgage repayments are lower than average because of the interest rate.

Where to start?

When you're improving your house it's important to start with a room you spend a lot of time in, a room which is important to you and which you feel could benefit from improvement. This could be your kitchen (if you love cooking), bathroom (if you love a long soak in the tub) or bedroom (if you love to sleep!).

Next, look around for ideas, inspiration and tips on home improvement (this blog could help!).

Finally, take your ideas and get quotes for your home improvement. Don't go with the first company you speak to - shop around!

Change Your Bedroom

There are two rooms in every home that are the most private, your bedroom and your bathroom. It's not something you are told to really look for, but the current state of your bedroom might be raising your stress levels when you're in it. It might be messy, dirty on a microscopic level, unorganized, or just flat out boring and all of this can raise your stress.

Alter the way you look at it for just a bit. Your bedroom should be an oasis of relaxation, not a place of business. Think of how your sleep and relationship would improve if you walked into your bedroom and felt perfectly at peace and ultimately relaxed, it would do wonders for you for sure.

Here are some of the important things you should now consider when redecorating your bedroom.
First, think lighting and atmosphere. During the evening and night hours, you want soft light, but not much more at all because that wakes your brain up too much. During the day, you can have lots of daylight, but make sure at night, it gets dark.

You can accomplish this by using smaller watt lightbulbs. It's becoming popular to use different colored lighting to create different atmospheres in the room.

Second, try to think what your ultimate place of relaxation would sound like. The different soundscapes that you can get with technology like the ipad are amazing realistic these days. These noises help to put your mind in a state of relaxing and rest while also acting like white noise and blocking out typically neighborhoods sounds like dogs barking.

There are amazing sounds like ocean waves, rain and thunderstorms, bells, wind in the trees and so much more. Some noise machines even help your brain fall sleep.

Third, think fragrances. Two smells have been studied by scientists and proven to help, lavender and jasmine. Lavender has been shown to help men and women the most, but jasmine did pretty well too.

You can use oils or tee lights with smelling trays to help get your room full of the smell. Get a tiny fan to help push the scent around and keep it moving all night. The studies have proven that both these smells work so well because they increase the length of deep sleep you experience which is really important.

Lastly, you want to keep allergies out of your room at all costs. The right bedding and flooring are the things that will help you accomplish this. For bedding, there are a few naturally organic bedding that repel dust mites and molds. Silk sheets are you best bet and very luxurious as well.

If you can't afford the high cost of silk, bamboo sheets are a great option. Also remember to consider your comforter and your mattress as well. Both of those are known to house lots of allergens.

Your flooring can actually be a hot spot for allergens as well. If you have old rugs or carpets, try to get them replace. If you can, keep your floors wood or tile as they last a really long time and they are easy to keep clean.
