The prices of houses across the UK have risen in June for certain areas. The statistics show house prices are still down year on year.
This can mean for hundreds of thousands of people in the UK they have negative equity within their property. One way to improve the value in a house is install sliding mirror wardrobes, fitted bedroom, a new bathroom or kitchen or another general home improvement.
The statistics show that home improvement loans have increased 18% in the last year. This is essentially because people are more willing to improve their house during the recession and whilst their mortgage repayments are lower than average because of the interest rate.

When you're improving your house it's important to start with a room you spend a lot of time in, a room which is important to you and which you feel could benefit from improvement. This could be your kitchen (if you love cooking), bathroom (if you love a long soak in the tub) or bedroom (if you love to sleep!).

Finally, take your ideas and get quotes for your home improvement. Don't go with the first company you speak to - shop around!

You are definitely on the right track here with all of this advice - especially shopping around to get a good price before settling on a home improvement company. Even if you already have someone doing one job, that doesn't mean their price will be better than anyone else on the next one, so I'd shop around for each separate task if it was me!
